Welcome to 2023

I could not be more excited to know that our students will now have a learning environment that complements the teaching and learning that takes place here at St Joseph’s, and I cannot wait for the first day of 2023 for the excited hum of learning that will be heard from these classrooms. We are about to embark on a new chapter at St Joseph’s, Gayndah. There are exciting and hope-filled times ahead! 2022 ended in spectacular style with the move into the new build. Our staff have already been in setting up these new spaces and we are all well and truly looking forward to having the students back with us.

Buildings and state of the art facilities are certainly great, but people undoubtedly form the soul of the school. Staff make all the difference, and I never feel like their efforts are sufficiently recognised. You take our group of staff, from a myriad of backgrounds and abilities and you turn them into a community who values each other, treats each other with respect and who works and achieves together. Governments and many organisations never achieve it. In fact, they could only dream of it, but our staff do it every day. They build positive relationships with and between students and parents. They form relationships with parents, because we need to be on the same page to do the very best for each child. I often hear students, staff and parents refer to St Joseph’s as a family, and I couldn’t agree more.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our existing families and to those who have joined our school community in 2023. You will quickly realise that you have become part of something very special. We look forward to partnering with you to ensure their learning journey is successful, fulfilling and enjoyable. Together we can continue to grow this school into an even greater learning community.

I would kindly ask our parents to check emails and our Facebook page for regular updates. I will also be sending a fortnightly Principal Bulletin via email (alternate week to newsletter) about the fortnight ahead, as well as other important information. If there is urgent information to communicate, I will email immediately. Please continue to check this and ensure your current email is up to date with the office. If you are not receiving these emails, please let the office know ASAP.

I look forward to meeting our new families and students and touching base with our existing families in the coming weeks. We look forward to welcoming our students and families back on Tuesday 24 January. Education is a journey and there can be little in life that is more satisfying than watching children learn and grow. Thanks for joining us for the year ahead together.
