Learning & Teaching

RATIONALE:              St Joseph’s School provides a rich and meaningful learning environment.  Our Mission Statement calls us to “provide a holistic education for students recognising the uniqueness and potential of each child who is made in the image and likeness of God.”  Through this, every child gains the foundation to reach his/her potential.

“Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23)

CHRISTIAN VALUES:    Joy, wisdom, integrity, respect, love, acceptance, responsibility, encouragement and cooperation

POLICY STATEMENT

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on a level path” (Psalm 143:10)

At St Joseph’s, we believe that learning is lifelong, life-giving and engages the whole individual.  Our curriculum will provide opportunities for students to become reflective and self-directed learners.  This will be achieved through the provision of holistic programs which promote the spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth and development of students.

PRINCIPLES:                 Therefore, we are committed to –

  • Ensuring that there is a whole school approach to planning, implementing and monitoring of educational programs addressing the individual needs of each child
  • Ensuring that classroom teaching and learning approaches are responsive, inclusive, collaborative, innovative, effective and compassionate
  • Providing whole school curriculum programs that reflect national and state government educational requirements while promoting Christian values
  • Continuing to enhance the level of resources across all key learning areas
  • Ensuring that Information and Communication Learning Technologies are integrated into everyday classroom experiences
