Faith & Spirituality

RATIONALE:                 The Faith and Spirituality of the St Joseph’s School community is based first of all on our bond in Christ.  Our School Vision Statement calls us to be “committed to nurturing and developing the faith and spirituality of individuals within the school community.”

We believe that faith and Spirituality are the cornerstones upon which our education is based. “ yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God…” (Jude 20-21)

CHRISTIAN VALUES:    Faith, respect, love, hope, compassion, joy, reverence and sense of wonder

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12)

St Joseph’s School is a community of faith, based on a belief in God and a Christian way of life. We will nurture and develop the faith and spirituality of all within our school community - learning and living the values of the Gospel in all we say and do.

PRINCIPLES:                 Therefore, we are committed to –

  • Providing regular opportunities for the school community to prepare for and engage in Catholic liturgical celebrations that will enhance the Catholic ethos of St Joseph’s
  • Providing opportunities for ecumenical celebrations acknowledging the diverse Christian faith traditions within our school
  • Continuing to support the faith and spiritual development of students and staff
  • Accessing contemporary resources to enhance the religious life of the school
  • Providing opportunities for students and staff to live their faith within the community
